Gorgeous Sunrise from the Plane

We arrived at the Singapore Airport at 1:40am.  We quickly made it through customs, grabbed our bags and hopped in cabs.  Yes, cabs is correct.  Due to our packing skills, one cab was not enough and we had to split up in two so our bags would fit.  On our way out of the airport, we noticed the giant slide in the airport and noted that it is a must ride for next time.

Since Singapore isn't too big - it only took 15 minutes to get to the company apartment.  The employees of the serviced apartment could not have been nicer to us considering the hour.  They quickly ushered us to the apartment and took our bags.  We showered and passed out.  We finally made it!

The next morning we went to the MRT (transit system) for the first time.  After about 10 minutes, we figured out where we needed to go and how to buy tickets.   We went down to the Marina Bay area.  We walked around the hotel/casino area (essentially it is Las Vegas in Singapore).

Walking to Marina Bay.

Lily Pads in the Koi Pond.

After a few hours, jet lag set in and we went home for a nap.

Dinner
We walked to Orchard Road and had a fabulous first dinner at Din Tai Fung, a popular restaurant with locations throughout the island.  They only gave you chopsticks to eat and after a few profanity-laced sentences and dropped steamed buns -  we eventually gave up and ate with our hands.  (Could we be any more American?)
