AUSTRALIA

G'DAY MATE!

Jim and I went down under to explore Sydney, Australia.   I completely fell in love with the city and its people.  The best comparison I can give is that it is an unique cross between Boston and San Francisco, but with breathtakingly beautiful beaches.  Seriously - I was plotting ways to live there when we were leaving.

The first day we took the ferry to the zoo (yes, you have to get to the zoo via ferry), walked around Harbourfront and Circular Quay (Quay is pronounced Key - just like the Singaporeans speak).

Another highlight of the trip were the walking tours!  I LOVE colonial history, so the colonial walking tour was right up my alley.  I was totally the tour guide's pet - standing in front, asking questions, hushing the folks who were not listening, and taking pictures.  I only mildly embarrassed Jim.

Got my Starbucks - off to explore Sydney!

Hyde Park.  The beautiful church in the background is St. Marys.
Fun Fact: The two larger spires on the end were constructed in 2000 to make the church appear more impressive for the Olympic visitors.

Lit a Candle and Said a Prayer.

Botanical Garden  - a beautiful oasis in the center of the city.

Shopping Mall - could the architecture be any more beautiful?

We also explored the Sydney Fish Market, had some delicious cocktails at the Opera House Bar, and hiked Bondi Beach!

Fun Fact:  They painted it Gray because it was the only paint color they had enough off

Manly Beach

Coggee Pavilion - where we met Jim's friend Colleen who is currently living there for some drinks and dinner!  We had a great time catching up with her.

A little sweaty - we ran the last part of the hike in fear of missing our flight

 Which way is the Beach?

Cheers!
