Formula One

Vroom Vroom! The Formula One Race was this past weekend and the city was abuzz in the days leading up to the race.  People travel from all over the world for the event, which is the only F1 race held at night through the streets of a city.

We opted for walk-around tickets for qualifying on Saturday night (mostly because it also included a Maroon 5 concert after qualifying was complete).  The best part of the race is that the cars are literally racing down the streets that we drive down on a regular basis.  As the sun went down, the skyscrapers provided a great backdrop for an amazing event.

After watching the cars begin the practice period in front of the Fullerton Hotel, our friends led us to a secret viewing point atop one of the buildings along the track for the qualifying period.  This view was definitely the highlight of the race because we were able to watch the cars make a sharp right hand turn before heading into pit road.

Following the qualifying, we headed over to Pandang Stage to watch Adam Levine and Maroon 5's concert.  To say they put on a good performance would be an understatement.  It was non-stop for over an hour and the crowd loved every second of it.  The only disappointment was that Pharell, Adam's co-host on "The Voice", didn't join him on stage even though he was in Singapore and performed on Friday night (Boooo!! I thought they they were friends).

When the race was over, we started the trek back to our condo.  Along the way, we got to cross over the track which provided a perfect photo op to end the night.

Overall, the F1 race lived up to its billing and we would highly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to attend.  Between the atmosphere at the race and the headliners that they bring in to perform at the post-race concerts, it really is a world-class event in a world-class city.

Until next time,
Jenna & Jim
