Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! Jim and I escaped to Bintan, Indonesia again for a quick celebratory weekend getaway. We left straight from work and headed to paradise.   Bintan is a quick 50 minute ferry ride away (although thanks to the man getting sick very loudly on the boat – it seemed more like hours).

Thankfully, we arrived with our stomachs intact and quickly grabbed some Bintang beer for the 15 minute car ride to the resort.  We decided to treat ourselves this time – and stayed at a more luxury hotel – the Banyan Tree.

After a picking our pillow preference and welcome cocktail, we hopped on a golf cart to take us to our villa.  After admiring the view from our room, we went to dinner and passed out from a long week.

On Saturday, we woke to watch the most incredible sunrise from bed then spent the rest of the day exploring the resort and lounging in our private pool.

Amazing..

Nice little Saturday

We celebrated our anniversary dinner at a delicious restaurant recommended by a friend – Baan Aarya.  We enjoyed some refreshing mojitos and fabulous Thai food before retiring back to the villa and passing out.  All of that sun and relaxation can really take it out of you ; )

One year later, and we still can't agree on desserts #hisandhers

Thankfully, the resort gave us a late check-out on Sunday so we got to spend the entire day lounging on our balcony/watching the ND game and discussing our favorite moments from the past year…

Mine was our romantic dinner on the beach in Phuket that ended with us sending a lantern off into the sky.

Jim’s was the nap he took the day after the wedding and the empanadas he ordered that night from 311 (so, yea... boys...).

We both agreed it is completely crazy how time flies and could not believe everything we experienced this year. From whale watching in Hawaii, bike riding in Cambodia, jellyfish stings in Thailand and monkey chases in Indonesia - we did more in a year than we ever thought we would in our lifetimes.  I know I have said it before – but we are so grateful for this amazing experience and the wonderful family and friends who email, Facetime, and What’s App on a consistent basis to make us less homesick.

No longer newlyweds,
Jenna and Jim
