My favorite thing about Halloween is carving pumpkins! Unfortunately, pumpkins did not appear to make it on the "import" list, and the ones that did carried a $50 price tag. Therefore, we decided to adapt to our new home and carve watermelons! They were slightly more sticky, and the juice created quite a mess, but it worked surprisingly well!
On actual Halloween, our building organized trick-or-treating for all the kids. Jim and I dressed up and passed out candy (aka he wore a pumpkin hat to please me for about 30 minutes). We had about 75 trick-or-treaters - they were all so cute!
